Poetry: A Lost Heart

I think of you often

Many nights I pray that you call out to me

I have no birthright or claim upon you

Only this yearning for what will never be mine

I know where you lie

So far from my eyes

Beyond my ability to pay homage

Yet not so far that my thoughts of you can be denied

Words and imaginings are all I possess

Sharing this love for what is lost to me

A heritage that cannot be claimed

This hunger to belong

To possess roots that will never take hold

Your stories remain unknown to me

Although I may learn them

Share them with those who would listen

I am not a man with a pleasing voice

To be able to render a harmony

But I shall still sing to you

The bones of my ancestors

In far off Scotland

Where you lived

Wild and untamed

  1. My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find a lot of your
post’s to be just what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs?
I wouldn’t mind creating a post or elaborating on a lot of the
subjects you write concerning here. Again, awesome blog!
